Preserving your natural teeth

Our restorative philosophy is straightforward: preserve as much of the natural tooth as possible, using high-quality materials and techniques that produce durable, natural-looking results, while avoiding over-treatment.

We use tooth-coloured materials throughout and we do not place silver amalgam fillings. Your restorations blend naturally with your teeth and do not compromise the appearance of your smile.

Fillings

Tooth decay is the most common reason for restorative treatment. When decay is detected early (one reason regular check-ups are so important), it can often be treated with a simple filling. We use tooth-coloured composite resin that bonds directly to the tooth, requiring minimal removal of healthy tooth structure.

Root canal treatment

When decay or damage reaches the inner pulp of a tooth, root canal treatment can save the tooth that might otherwise need to be extracted. The procedure involves removing the infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and shaping the root canals, and sealing the tooth. A crown is usually placed afterwards to protect and strengthen the treated tooth.

Root canal treatment has an undeserved reputation for being painful. In reality, modern techniques and anaesthesia mean the procedure is typically no more uncomfortable than having a filling. Most patients are pleasantly surprised.

Inlays and onlays

For teeth with moderate damage that does not require a full crown, an inlay or onlay may be the most appropriate restoration. Made from porcelain or composite, these custom-fabricated restorations fit precisely into or onto the tooth, providing a stronger and more durable result than a direct filling for larger cavities.
